Amazon CEO Andy Jassy informed employees last week that starting in 2025, they will be required to work from the office five days a week. This decision comes amidst reports of “strong dissatisfaction” among employees who have adapted to a hybrid work model, according to an anonymous survey conducted by Amazon employees.

As noted by Fortune, hundreds of employees participated in the survey. (Amazon employed over 400,000 individuals at the end of 2022.) The survey's creators stated in its introduction that they plan to share the results with Jassy and other executives to provide them with a clear understanding of how this policy affects employees, including the identified challenges and suggested solutions.

In Jassy’s memo regarding the change, he emphasized that collaboration and brainstorming are easier when employees are physically together. However, some survey respondents highlighted that the flexibility of remote work enables them to better manage off-hours calls with colleagues in different countries.
